CORE COMPONENTS

Core Structural Components of a Pallet Racking System

Industrial pallet racking systems are built from multiple structural components, designed to work together to support pallet loads safely, efficiently and at large scales. Every component plays a critical role in warehouse performance, structural stability and operational flexibility.

Upright Frames

Upright Frames

Upright frames form the vertical structure of the pallet racking system and determine rack height, depth, and overall load capacity.

  • Supports vertical pallet loads
  • Defines rack dimensions
  • Engineered for structural stability
Beams

Beams

Beams connect to upright frames and support pallet loads across each storage level.

  • Support pallet positioning
  • Configurable for different load requirements
  • Enables flexible storage layouts
Bracing Systems

Bracing Systems

Bracing components strengthen the rack structure and help distribute operational loads safely throughout the system.

  • Improves structural rigidity
  • Supports safe warehouse operation
  • Enhances long-term durability
Baseplates & Anchors

Baseplates & Anchors

Baseplates and floor fixings transfer rack loads safely into the warehouse floor structure.

  • Improves rack stability
  • Supports load distribution
  • Designed for secure installation
Rack Protection Systems

Rack Protection Systems

Protection components reduce accidental impact damage from forklifts, pallet-handling equipment, and daily warehouse operations.

  • Helps protect rack structures
  • Reduces operational damage risk
  • Supports warehouse safety compliance
Storage Accessories

Storage Accessories

Accessories like pallet supports, mesh decking, and dividers optimise pallet handling and adapt systems to different warehouse applications.

  • Supports different load types
  • Improves pallet stability
  • Enables flexible storage configurations
BRACING STRUCTURE

Stability & Safety in Every Frame

Structural bracing engineered for long-term warehouse stability

Closed bracing profiles help maintain rack stability under dynamic warehouse loads while improving structural rigidity and long-term system durability.

This reduces deformation, improves load distribution, and supports safe operation across demanding warehouse environments.

  • Higher rigidity and load capacity through torsion-resistant closed profiles
  • Reduced deformation and less twisting of upright frames under load
  • Lower maintenance effort due to impact-resistant and dimensionally stable design
  • Improved safety with smooth surfaces and no sharp edges
  • Hygienic design without dust accumulation, suitable for sensitive areas
  • Galvanized or painted options for corrosion protection
  • Reliable structural design according to EN 15512

PALLET RACKING BEAM TYPES

Beams: The Right Profile For Every Load & Application

Why Beam configurations matter: Beam selection influences pallet support, load distribution, structural performance and compatibility with different warehouse applications. Different beam profiles are designed to support varying load conditions, storage environments and operational requirements.

Open Beam

Open beams are designed for warehouse applications requiring additional decking, support bars or specialised load carriers. Their open profile enables flexible integration with customised pallet support configurations and non-standard storage requirements.

  • Open profile for integration of decking and support elements
  • Suitable for non-standard pallets and special load carriers
  • Flexible configuration within the P90 system
  • Enables customised load support solutions
  • Beam heights: 50mm or 75mm

I-Beam Silverline

The I-Beam Silverline profile is engineered for defined load applications needing efficient load distribution and structural reliablilty. Its optimised profile geometry supports stable pallet handling while maintaining material efficiency across predictable load conditions.

  • Economical beam solution for defined load scenarios
  • I‑profile geometry optimised for distributed loads
  • Efficient material usage compared to closed profiles
  • Suitable for applications with predictable load conditions
  • Beam heights: 100mm, 125mm, 140mm

Custom beam profiles for specialised applications

Step Beam

For P90 only with adapted connectors; rarely used in standard P90 applications

Sigma Beam

Racking with chipboard and steel decking

IPE Beam

Very heavy special constructions

The beam is the load-bearing element between the frames. Not every load requires the same solution. Dexion manufactures all beam types in-house and offers the right profile for every application. Beam lengths can be configured from 500 mm to 5,000 mm, subject to structural verification.
