The LS Tower is a vertical storage system engineered for the storage and retrieval of bars, tubes and profiles up to 12.5 m in length and 5 tonnes per container. Maximising Space and Control for Heavy Roll Storage

A manufacturer of technical films and foil products needed a safer, more efficient way to store and handle large metal rolls and cylinders used in coating and lamination processes. The prior setup struggled to meet the weight and handling requirements due to space constraints in the operation.

Dexion delivered a fully customised Long Span Tower solution, designed specifically for cylindrical loads. The system was configured with 33 custom containers, each capable of supporting up to 4,000kg, providing structured, high-capacity storage for heavy rolls while maintaining safe, organised handling.

To improve operational efficiency, the system includes an integrated 1.5-tonne crane, enabling controlled loading and unloading directly at the transfer point. The enclosed design adds an extra layer of protection, ensuring safe operation in the production environment and reducing handling risks.

Despite the complexity of the solution, the project was delivered in just 3 weeks. A Siemens-based control system provides reliable, intuitive operation, giving the customer full control over storage and retrieval while supporting consistent day-to-day operations.

Aerospace Components Manufacturer - Czech Republic

A manufacturer of high-precision components for the civil aviation sector needed floor space for a new production machine. Existing static cantilever racks occupied the adjacent storage hall.

An LS Double Tower replaced the cantilever racking and achieved 172 m² of organised storage capacity within a 50 m² floor footprint - freeing the full adjacent space for the new production machine without a building extension.

Mixed container heights (200 mm, 300 mm, 400 mm) and dual load capacities (1,500 kg and 3,000 kg) were specified to match the customer's exact material range. WMS with remote diagnostics was included as standard.

The overall system footprint, tower dimensions and container sizes are defined on a project-by-project basis to match the customer's available space, material characteristics and storage requirements.
